Introduction to Glassblowing

Jamie Harris | Hot Glass Studio

Experience the magic of molten glass with this introduction to the basics of glassblowing.  Students will learn how to gather molten glass from the furnace and how to manipulate and shape it through heat, gravity and blowing. Working with traditional glassblowing tools and with fellow students in a team-based environment, students will create three-dimensional forms such as paperweights, tumblers, vases and bowls.  The use of color will be introduced and explored as students refine their understanding of the craft.  All materials provided, no experience necessary.

Please note no class on 2/12

*this class can be taken as the first of a three part series. The tentative dates for part 2 (3/26-4/30) and part 3 (5/14-6/18)
