A tertulia is a social gathering with literary or artistic overtones, especially in Iberia or Latin America. The word is originally Spanish, and has only moderate currency in English, in describing Latin cultural contexts. It is rather similar to a salon, but a typical tertulia in recent centuries has been a regularly scheduled event in a public place such as a bar, although some tertulias are held in more private spaces, such as someone's living room. Participants may share their recent creations (poetry, short stories, other writings, even artwork or songs). Usually (but not always) the participants in a regularly scheduled tertulia are, in some respects, likeminded, whether by having similar politics, similar literary tastes, etc.

Yesterday in a photo by fellow artist and friend RoCa, installing my two pieces "Sweet Dreams" and "Nightmare" with RoCa's art left far-back.

Today from 5:30 to 9:30 PM, ARTernate -Transforming Spaces, a Group Show of twenty artists living and working in New York will have its ‘one and only night in town’ at  2 Park Avenue, NYC.

ARTernate is an exhibition of works, showing the artist’s way on expressing their vision of transformation. Features Painting, Photography, Installation and Performance. The pieces in this show gives interpretations of what transformation means visually, emotionally and as a way of connecting to the viewer.

This exhibition is sponsored by LACREA (Latino American Commercial Real Estate Association) and TERTULIA LATINA.

Tertulia Latina will celebrate its First Art Auction Fundraiser and for this we have commissioned 12 well-known Latino artists, who reside
and work in New York City, to create a unique piece of artwork on a 5" x 7" canvas. The collection covers a wide range of mediums.

The funds raised will help Tertulia Latina continue its mission to promote and support the work of new and emerging Latino artists; expand our programs of exhibitions and lectures; create opportunities for outreach and network; and to educate and expose the general public to the vast richness of our Latino culture.
