Moment of Sorrow / Eduardo Michaelsen
A great man, Cuban artist Eduardo Michaelsen died last night. Our dear friend Eduardo Michaelsen was born in 1920. He studied at the Academia de San Alejandro and for many years worked for El Museo de Bellas Artes' Restoration Department, Havana Cuba.
He had three major exhibitions in Cuba; 1962, 1963 and 1978. In 1980 abandoned Cuba on the Mariel boat frenzy; and settled in San Francisco, California where he keeps working on his art, the only way he knew-very passionated. Despite of his academic formation, he remained true to his "naive" vision of art through his long and brilliant career.
Rest in peace, good friend.

I echo your sentiment. This painting that you posted reflects well his whimsical composition. Saludos y que descanse en paz.
ReplyDeleteI also posted his death in the Penthouse. Rene told me the (bad) news.
