Featuring works by eight established, midcareer artists for whom the people and culture of El Barrio/East Harlem have served as significant inspiration. Each of these artists has found a unique mode of expression that has been inspired by the East Harlem experience and in turn has enriched the life of the community-on its building and subway station walls, in its gardens and storefront studios, in its museum collections and galleries-at the same time as it has resonated across the globe.

Spirit of Community: Artists of El Barrio & Beyond is the second investigation of El Barrio/East Harlem's vibrant art scene. This exhibit is curated by Community Works and Frank DeGregorie of The Interchurch Center as part of Community Works; Community Matters initiative.
This exhibition will be on view April 5 through May 3, 2013 and is presented by Community Works and The Interchurch Center as part of the Community Matters NYC initiative, a new uptown partnership. Please visit www.communityworksnyc.org
