selgasArt / Glass: The UrbanGlass Art Quarterly #159

As the world faces down the COVID-19 pandemic, the art world is struggling to deal with the health threat and economic fallout, which will be our biggest challenges in the coming months.

Glass: The UrbanGlass Art Quarterly has devoted its Summer 2020 edition (Glass #159) to looking for answers. Turning to the past as inspiration for the present, we asked glass artists who have endured life- and career-threatening setbacks about the keys to their recovery and healing. Their experiences dealing with disaster helped prepare them in some way for what they're experiencing now, and each offered unique perspectives on where we are and what we all need to do to go forward.
Our upcoming special issue, on newsstands June 1st, chronicles ten harrowing "Survival Stories" of overcoming adversity and getting back on track, something we could all learn from at this pivotal moment. Featuring the first-person accounts of Oben Abright, Fabiano Amadi, Eddie Bernard, Christina Bothwell, Dale Chihuly, Pearl Dick, Liza Lou, Clifford Rainey, Ginny Ruffner, as well as the remarkable story of The Corning Museum's devastating 1972 flood, this special issue aspires to be a resource to the field and a celebration of our unique community.
