The exhibitions will be in the Riverside Galleries from March 21 – May 3, 2020.

Incarnations is an exhibition of large mixed media paintings by Caroline Burton on view in the Gillette Gallery. These inviting works combine elements of printmaking, painting, traditional crafts and textile arts. Dramatic in their presence, Burton’s work balances personal expression with a formal minimalist structure. Provocatively worked surfaces pull the viewer into a mysterious space of dark matte finishes and shimmering light. Press release

 

Paintings by Eric Erickson, is an exhibition of works that challenge our perceptions both of spacial relations and the relationships between objects. Pipes, faucets, and bricks float in suspended animation and occupy an uncertain terrain where perspectives shift in unpredictable ways. Rich surfaces of scumbled paint and vanishing images provide the viewer with a history of the painting and something more to ponder. Press release

We are pleased to announce two upcoming exhibitions in The Riverside Galleries. Opening Saturday, December 7, we will be celebrating the photographic image. The exhibitions will feature a wide range of subjects and styles that utilize a variety of photographic techniques from silver gelatin to digital format. In the Balter Gallery, we will be honoring accomplished photographer and founder of PHOTOcentric, Cali Gorevic. The Gillette Gallery will present PHOTOcentric, our international juried photography exhibition, featuring 50 works selected by jurors Robin Rice, successful New York City gallerist/photographer, and Cali Gorevic.

Please join us this Sunday, October 1, at 3:30pm

for an Artist Talk with Laura Kaufman.

Drawing from photographs of places such as Tōfuku-ji in Kyoto,

Japan, the Grand Shrine in Ise, Japan, and the southern shore of Iceland,

the artist will discuss how these places have been a recurring

starting point for exploration in her work.

The Gillette Gallery will be closing for this event at 3:00pm,

so if you have not already seen this remarkable work

please make plans to do so before then.

Reservations are not required, but seating is limited.

When Was It Last Changed,  painting by Mike Bayne 

This is also the last weekend to enjoy the exquisite exhibition

of paintings (yes they are indeed paintings!) by Canadian artist

Mike Baynein the Balter Gallery.

Bayne is the recipient of the Kingston Prize,

which recognizes outstanding contemporary artists.

The exhibition Pictures, curated by Katharine Mulherin,

is certainly not to be missed.

These works will be on view until 5:00pm this Sunday.
