Garrison Art Center / 2019 Gallery Calendar

We are excited to announce our 2019 Gallery Calendar.

This year’s calendar includes longer exhibitions, offering more time to engage and experience the art. The diverse exhibition season includes established and emerging artists, some of whose works are grounded in the conceptual and narrative, confronting themes such as environmental change, urban structure, and social experience. A sculptural installation will span both the Gillette and Balter Galleries in September. For the month of June, a collaborative, immersive art experience led by the Art Center will transform the galleries. We hope you will join us for this exciting year as we continue to offer
relevant and stimulating programming for the local community and beyond.

Exhibitions are made possible by the generous support of our
Leadership Circle.

We hope you will join us for the opening reception of the Member Exhibition, featuring works by Art Center member artists, Friday, January 11, from 5:00 to 7:00pm. The exhibition will be on view from January 11 through 20, 2019.

ALL 2019 MEMBERS are invited to exhibit one work in the Member Show.

To participate, your membership must be current for 2019. Current members and those who have joined or renewed for 2019 are listed on our website. Note that participating artists are allowed to bring one work, no larger than 36 inches on the longest side, and that the work must be framed and ready to hang. Please let us know as soon as possible if you will require a pedestal or have any special instructions for displaying your work.

Deliver your work January 5-9, 2019, between 10:00am and 5:00pm, along with a completed Exhibition Agreement. A copy of the Exhibition Agreement form is attached, or you may complete the form online HERE.

If you have not already joined or renewed your membership, you may do so HERE.

White Paintings by Cedric van Eenoo

December 8, 2018 - January 6, 2019

Both images: Untitled, mixed media on canvas, 12 x 12 inches

Cedric van Eenoo's modestly sized monochromatic canvases reduce painting to its most crucial essence. Within the constraints of minimal color and form, van Eenoo has obtained a profound freedom of creativity and process. The abstract expressionist-influenced brushwork is an exploration in texture and nuance, emotion and meaning. His application of imperfect layers of white on white paint transcends the square canvas to a philosophical level, and through this fundamental formula of expression there is an emergence of the unexpected.
