Oil on canvas / 36X32in. / 1983.
This painting is my first piece dealing with the Mariel theme.
I used my image reflected in the boat-owner' sun glasses while departing from Cuba in the middle of a sea storm, just like a mini home movie I was playing on my mind , but the main reason of this portrait was for a double victory celebration. Since 1982 I was actually working as an illustrator and graphic designer for The Inter American Safety Council' official magazine in USA; that explain the suit.
Not bad for a Marielito!.
