Ajiaco: Stirrings of the Cuban Soul
June 8, 2011—August 14, 2011
This mixed media exhibition takes its name, Ajiaco, from a soup made from a motley collection of ingredients. In this case, the soup is a metaphor for Cuban culture - itself a melting pot of disparate, sometimes contradictory and conflicting elements: Spanish Catholicism, and its association with colonial domination, mixes with Eastern and indigenous traditions. The art on display examines the complex an evolving nature of this legacy.
